Brief Bio

Pascal Lorenz (lorenz@ieee.org) received his M.Sc. (1990) and Ph.D. (1994) from the University of Nancy, France. Between 1990 and 1995 he was a research engineer at WorldFIP Europe and at Alcatel-Alsthom. He is a professor at the University of Haute-Alsace, France, since 1995. His research interests include QoS, wireless networks and high-speed networks .He is the author/co-author of 3 books, 3 patents and 200 international publications in refereed journals and conferences.

He was Technical Editor of the IEEE Communications Magazine Editorial Board (2000-2006), Chair of Vertical Issues in Communication Systems Technical Committee Cluster (2008-2009), Chair of the Communications Systems Integration and Modeling Technical Committee (2003-2009) and Chair of the Communications Software Technical Committee (2008-2010). He has served as Co-Program Chair of IEEE WCNC'2012 and ICC'2004, tutorial chair of VTC'2013 Spring and WCNC'2010, track chair of PIMRC'2012, symposium Co-Chair at Globecom 2011-2007 and ICC 2010-2008. He has served as Co-Guest Editor for special issues of IEEE Communications Magazine, Networks Magazine, Wireless Communications Magazine, Telecommunications Systems and LNCS.

Brief Bio
Franco Davoli received the "laurea" degree in Electronic Engineering in 1975 from the University of Genoa, Italy. Since 1990 he has been Full Professor of Telecommunication Networks at the University of Genoa. He is currently serving as Chair of the Multimedia Signal Processing and Telecommunication Networks Master Degree Program. He was with the Department of Communications, Computer and Systems Science (DIST), and since January 2012 he has been with the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering, and Naval Architecture (DITEN). His current research inter ests are in dynamic resource allocation in multiservice networks and in the Future Internet, wireless mobile and satellite networks, multimedia communications and services, and in flexible, programmable and energy-efficient networking. On these and other aspects he has co-authored over 350 scientific publications in international journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. In 2004 and 2011 he was Visiting Erskine Fellow at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. He has been Principal Investigator in a large number of projects and has served in several positions in the Italian National Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT), an independent organization joining 37 universities all over Italy. He was a co-founder and the Head, for the term 2003–2004, of the CNIT National Laboratory for Multimedia Communications, Naples, Italy, and Vice- President of the CNIT Management Board for the term 2005–2007.
